Retail GAS

Are you upset that you are being forced to pay your employees more?

What truly matters now is how you manage entry level tasks and performance. If you are paying more and not increasing the level of give-a-shit (GAS) you are inflicting more damage.

As the price of GAS increases, employers need  more mileage from those employees in entry level roles.

If you do not increase productivity, GAS may be an expense you can no longer afford to waste.

Employers must lean more on performance management. Gone are the days when you could accept tardiness, laziness and poor attitude.

Entry level roles must morph into roles that are tangible and measure-able. Key performance indicators must be designed for all roles and an everyday system of measurement must exist and be enforced. Something as simple as performance managing the lack of a smile in a service role should now become an expectation that is managed.

Survival won’t come from taking away perks and benefits, it will come from a measurable expectation  of consistent increased performance, productivity, service and sales.

If you don’t increase and manage employee expectations, even a GAS mask won’t save you.
